Wastewater moves through six stages between the house and the sprinkler head. Here's what each stage is doing.
First stage. Solids settle, greases float, and everything else moves on downstream.
Air is bubbled through the effluent, feeding oxygen-loving bacteria that break down waste fast.
Effluent settles again. Cleaner liquid rises to be treated; heavier material returns upstream.
Settled solids get recirculated back to the aeration stage so bacteria can keep working on them.
Chlorine treats the clarified effluent to kill pathogens before it reaches the sprinklers.
Treated water is held, then pumped through the surface sprinklers on the schedule your control panel dictates.

Solid pucks dispense through a chlorinator tube. Simple to top up; must be septic-rated (not pool chlorine). Cadence depends on household use.

Never use pool-store chlorine tablets in an aerobic septic system. They're formulated differently and can damage system components — and they don't disinfect wastewater to the right standard.
